    Name: Eloise

    Persona: Caffeine free

Situation: Eloise is a 31 year old, female identifying accountant who lives in NYC with her male identifying partner and dog. Eloise’s work schedule is 9-5, a hybrid of working at the office and from home. She’s a boulderer (rock climber) and goes to the boulder gym one a week after work. On the weekends she takes her dog to new parks and meets up with friends and family.

Can you describe your current schedule and how you balance your responsibilities with meal planning?

I try to stay healthy with a vegan diet and whole food meals. I stopped drinking coffee over the past year, but still enjoy beverages like decaffeinated coffee and chai tea.

How often do you order from a coffee shop? When you do, what is your motivation for doing so?

Around 2 times a week. On weekends, I order decaffeinated drinks in person with friends and family. My motivation is to be social, and I just like the taste. I also don’t like anything too sweet, so a decaf coffee in winter is perfect for me.

What challenges do you face in the ordering process? How does this make you feel?

I appreciate that almost every coffee shop has decaffeinated options now, but my biggest challenge is that sometimes they get my order wrong and add caffeine.

Is there any way in which you feel these challenges could be resolved?

Some way to make sure it’s clear to the barista that the drink is decaffeinated. Also, some kind of badge to add after its made so they can double check.
